Pita Kim’s practice begins with an inquiry into how space can be listened to. With a background in interior architecture, she became attentive to elements that resist drawing—sound, vibration, air, darkness, and bodily presence—and to how these intangible conditionsoften shape movement, emotion, and relationships more powerfully than visible form.

Through sound-based installations and listening situations, Kim reveals invisible structures embedded in everyday environments—hierarchy, distance, labor, collective rhythm, and environmental tension—as sensory experience. In this process, sound functions not as a tool of human expression, but as a medium through which non-human entities—objects, machines, and environments—intervene according to their own rhythms and conditions. Sound crosses thresholds between inside and outside, access and exclusion, audibility and silence, articulating entangled relations between human and non-human actors.

Time in her work unfolds not linearly, but through repetition, synchronicity, and chance encounters, accumulating through circular and relational processes. Rather than prescribing meaning, she constructs conditions that invite viewers to recalibrate their perception and sense of position.

She develops concepts starting from words and narratives, working through creative direction across DJing, image-making, spatial installations, and fashion. Through this practice, she explores how a single working method can be translated into different forms.
