Movement Research
The installation manifests as a kinetic instrument built upon a modified clockwork system. Rather than tracking standardized human time, this mechanism drives a single, precisely engineered slit plate that rotates like a clock’s minute hand against the vertical boundary of the wall. By continuously tracing this rotational trajectory within the architectural environment, the device physically translates the abstract concept of cosmic discrepancy into a minimal, structural movement. The clockwork functions not merely as a tool for human measurement, but as a non-human actor operating on its own mechanical rhythms and micro-vibrations. As the plate revolves, its physical presence redefines the surrounding space, delineating a shifting tension between the scenery of visible mechanical motion and the void of silent cosmic time. This precise, repetitive movement transforms the invisible imperfection of natural astronomical time into a tangible, atmospheric presence of air, darkness, and bodily perception.
In Analemma-ammelana, time does not unfold linearly. It accumulates through repetition, synchronicity, and the friction between the rigid grid of human systems and the fluid orbit of the Earth.
